Day 152- January 20, 2010

Whenever I’m over here in New South Wales, I try to meet up with old friends, having been born in Sydney. Josephine, a friend from way back (as in, since we were babies) came up to the Coast today, which was good, since I hadn’t seen her for a few years. It should also be mentioned that on the way to pick her up, I tried the new Magnum Sandwich. Although it claimed I would “Be The King”, I felt no such regal sensation and think I prefer Maxibon.

We (Sarah, Anna, Josephine and I) then all went to 304 for lunch (again). You know it’s a pretty cool place when the barista is happy to indulge your urges for extra-strong iced coffees. After we lost Anna to the scourge known as “work” and finally decided we couldn’t eat any more wedges, the three of us headed to the beach, for some swimming but also a few photos (such as the obligatory “Oh What A Feeling!” shot). We found a knife lying around, as well as a strange spiked loopy contraption and weren’t sure what to do with them, but the contraption seemed to be pretty good at making lines in the sand. I might have to post a photo of it to Yahoo Answers at some point, asking: CAN ANYBODY TELL ME WHAT THIS IS?

After a sugar-fuelled IT Crowd viewing (mmm Fantales), we dropped Josephine at the station, as she wanted to be home to receive university offers with her family. The NSW first-round offers came out today on the internet, and Sarah was also anxious to see whether she had gotten into her first preference, a Primary Teaching and Arts double degree at the local campus of Newcastle University. It was a bit nerve-wracking, as we were supposed to be able to access the results at 9pm, but experienced heavy internet congestion (what with several thousand others trying to get on the website) and only managed to log in at about half past, having received “This Page Cannot Be Found” messages until then.

We had vodka shots to celebrate,  watched Jesus Christ Superstar (which was quite a crazy film) and the two of us went down to the beach to watch the lights and the stars. The End.

  1. I love the IT crowd. And your attempt to find the spiky things use was very reminiscent of good ol’ Black Books. Hurrah!

  2. I’m pretty certain it wasn’t a lighter, but you never know…

  3. But it’s definitely not a fake breast

  4. Hopefully not a thing to give up sugar…
