Day 331- July 18, 2010

Unfortunately, there was a strict prohibition on photography (“artist’s request”, apparently), so my camera was left at the cloakroom, which was more of a cloakdesk. No matter. I mean, clearly I would have liked a photo of one of the funniest people in the world for my blog, but I didn’t let that ruin my enjoyment of the evening.

And it was an enjoyable evening. Top-notch, laughing-till-it-hurts type entertainment. He played a variety of strange instruments, including some sort of Persian guitar and what appeared to be a musical touchscreen, as well as keyboard and guitar. He touched on topics as diverse as Aldi supermarkets, soccer players and kidnapping the Queen using a bungee rope. He even conducted an art history tour on paintings featuring Doubting Thomas. Needless to say, it was very funny.

We arrived nice and early for a parking spot and went looking for somewhere we could get a warm drink. Walking down Acland Street (where I took Today’s Photo at one of the many cake shops), we found a busy restaurant where the only seats available were at the bar. This gave us a good view of a particularly dexterous and somewhat flashy bartender, who constantly juggled bottles and cocktail shakers. That was pretty good entertainment also.
